This story is one that is near and dear to my heart because it’s all about the miracle of life and family.

For the first time, I decided I was going to try birth photography and what better way to test out the waters than with the birth of my nephew. I was really worried it wasn’t all going to work out though, since it was summertime and I had to literally be on call to go into the hospital at any moment, all while juggling my 3 kids as well. I tried to be ready to go on a moments notice,  but I was really nervous.

I have to say, I am so thankful that it worked out I got to be there.  A-MAZ-ING birth experience.  I cried when he was born… and when I was proofing…  and when I finished the slideshow.  I’m not usually that bad, but it really was just that amazing. Maybe it was the fact that he was the newest member of my family, or maybe it was the sheer joy of watching the birth itself, but all I know was it was an emotional day for all involved. It really is something else to see a birth from that end compared to being the one in labor. I highly recommend it for anyone who might have the opportunity. It’s amazing what our bodies are able to accomplish as women!

While I loved being part of this family’s birth experience, I do not think it is the right avenue for me. I’ll stick with after they’re born capturing those precious newborn images and leave this moment as a special moment for just the family to share. However, I was able to capture a moment so special in their lives, I am happy to share with you the joy and happiness that is ‘The Story of Elijah… ‘
